Minor in Theatre
Mission Statement: The study of and participation in theatre
provide students with an appreciation of dramatic literature and an
understanding of how to give it life. Students will become familiar with the historical
tradition and many artistic achievements of theatre and with all the basics of
theatrical art, including acting, directing, stagecraft, and playwriting.
Production is at the center of this minor; thus, all minors will be expected to
participate in Perseverance stage productions and/or related departmental
activities.
Program Goals: The minor in theatre is designed to provide
students with a broad introduction to the discipline of theatre as well as
enhance the spectrum of UAS Competencies, including reading, speaking,
research, writing, computer literacy, professional behavior, and critical
thinking.
Student Outcomes: All courses in the minor are designed to be
speaking intensive. Additionally, a number are reading and writing intensive.
Program faculty will assess students in these areas as well as in the other UAS
Competencies.

available to supervise this minor and teach are UAS Dr. Susan Koester and Dr. Nina Chordas, and adjuncts Perseverance Theatre Director P.J. Paparelli and Education Director
David Charles Goyette, Producing Director Jeffrey Herrmann, and other Perseverance
